Sammy Hagar bartending waboritas
Of course my number one reason for winning the K9 silent auction "Sammy Hagar dinner" was to have his 'ear' for a few minutes to talk about Centro Mujeres. CM needs a celebrity endorsement and he and his wife Kari were lovely and gracious enough to hear me out. Kari is absolutely beautiful and Sammy so lively and a natural bartender. He is every bit as handsome in person as he is in the tabloids. I do hope he can find a way to help Centro Mujeres. THANK YOU SAMMY.
Toni and I went to enjoy his private bartending event .... Sammy didn't recognize us from our beach homes at KM 18 - we lived near each other as neighbors!
Cabo Wabo has great memories for me ... April 1994, Kenny and I had our 3rd date there. We sat on a sofa (yep) front row to see Chris Isaacs sing - his splashy suit jacket and his velvet voice. He really did sing directly to me. Of course, Kenny, long haired and looking like a movie star, said to me "you know, I don't think I have ever dated someone as old as you". HA! Me, all of 34 at the time and he at 52! Such a New Yorker!
Another Cabo Wabo memory comes to mind. (this has to be kept in the cone of silence) 5 dear girlfriends from high school - are in Cabo for our 'turning 50 birthday' ... staying at Capella for a treat and .... oh oh. We somehow ended up in a bachelor stag party .... (best told over wine)
The Cabo life offers up daily sunshine, ocean breezes, waves crashing ashore for my nightly lullaby, and the stars and moon forever awe inspiring! I really do notice and breath it all in. Gratitude is a daily mantra with a few journal pages writing down life's little complaints and a few affirmations and dreams. With every life, mine for sure, there is certainty that there will be struggles, some so overwhelming I wonder how I can get through it. I close my eyes and envision solutions with ease, peace and respect.
I will help. Centro Mujeres needs your help too.
DID YOU KNOW:
Centro Mujeres is the least known yet most important of all the charity foundations here in the southern Baja. The two founders, Teresa and Monica, are both inspirational pioneer women fighting daily for basic human rights. The 'behind the scenes' lobbying with countless hours and years and frustrations changing the laws here in Baja California so children and women live free of domestic violence and sexual abuse resulted in a big Victory ONLY a few short years ago – new laws were introduced stating it is a crime to beat a child or your wife! THANK YOU Centro Mujeres.
We are now looking for Celebrity Endorsement to help bring the much needed awareness and funds needed ... If you are a celebrity we need you!
The list is a long one of critically important Human Rights projects that are now underway. Centro Mujeres needs your help to create and change the laws to support our children, our poor and families. Here are a few of the years projects ...
Pro-Choice advocacy – currently young women who abort can face up to 20 years in prison!
Little Ones – sexual abuse prevention program targets 4 – 6 year olds – Lobby schools to train Teachers and Parents.
Human Rights of poor migrant communities (imagine the worst disturbing living and working conditions).
Youth Leadership programs throughout Los Cabos - sexual health protection measures, goals to reduce teen pregnancy and teach self confidence to be pro-active AND lead by example. (THIS is working!)
Free medical clinic open for children and women.
Free condoms.
